PA Keystone STARS Program
PA’s
Keystone STARS is a voluntary program designed to promote continuous quality and
improvement in early learning environments. The program provides a Department
of Public Welfare Certificate of Compliance for daycare centers that provide:
-
A comfortable, safe, and healthy place where your child
can explore and learn.
-
Laughing, reading, and talking to help your child build
good language skills.
-
Teachers who continually learn new ways to help your child
succeed.
-
Music, art, science, and play activities that increase
school readiness.
-
Opportunities for family involvement and teachers who
listen to children and parents.
-
24 in-service training hours per teacher required each
year.

PAKeys.org website
Tiny Town is a 4-STAR Quality Center
The Keystone STARS quality rating system uses research-based
performance standards. 4 Stars is the highest achievement, and
Tiny Town Child Care Center is one of only a few 4 Star rated facilities in the
area.
Our 4 Star rating for day care was achieved right here at our
Greensburg location, not by a national office trying to make its franchises look
good.

Field Trips and Visitor Programs
Tiny Town Child Care Center focuses on more than
babysitting in everything we do. This includes offering field trips to
facilities such as the Westmoreland Museum of American Art, the Pittsburgh Zoo,
and the Carnegie Science Center, as well as healthy outdoor activities such as
the turtle hiking trail at nearby Twin Lakes Park.
We also provide for visitor programs and in-house
presentations from local Firemen, Police, Parks and Recreation, and artisans,
such as Victoria Lynn Ceramics.
Library Programs
At Tiny Town we stress the importance of literacy. Once a week
the Greensburg Hempfield Library provides on-site reading to all ages. We have
established our own lending library, especially for parent use in borrowing the
best available literature on communicating with your children and helping them
grow. And for the kids, every room has its own small library of fun and engaging
children’s books.
Learning Centers
Our fun, early learning stations offer activities
ranging from playing with blocks and a pretend kitchen to science, computer
skills, and math learning stations. There are indoor balance beams for
developing large motor skills and puzzles and other manipulate-able items for
small motor skills.
Each center uses a developmental approach, allowing
children to grow at their own rate of speed.
